History
During the early 1900s, Charlotte was a thriving hub for textile production, and many of the wealthiest businessmen in the state lived in the area known as Myers Park. It all begin in 1891 when John Springs Myers drew up plans to create a suburb from his farmland. His son-in-law, George Stephens, helped those dreams become a reality in 1911 when he hired a city planner named John Nolen to create a new vision for the land. The neighborhood was so attractive that it earned national recognition. As the years passed, the community continued to grow. In 1995, many of its buildings and homes landed a spot on the National Register of Historic Places.

In addition to its gorgeous 7-acre lake, it features 4 baseball fields and batting cages, 12 tennis courts, 4 soccer fields, a full basketball court, 2 volleyball courts, a concession stand, a bandshell, 2 playgrounds, an NFL Play60 KidZone, walking trails, 5 picnic shelters with grills, demonstrative gardens, and parts of the Little Sugar Creek Greenway.
- Myers Park Country Club – South Charlotte has its fair share of golf and country clubs, but Myers Park has its very own facility. The exclusive club dates back to 1921 and features an 18-hole golf course, 13 tennis courts, a swimming pool, a fitness center, and a gorgeous clubhouse.
- The Duke Mansion – There are several historic sites in Myers Park, but one of the most noteworthy is the James Buchannan Duke mansion. Built in 1915, it was the last home of Duke, a businessman and the namesake of Duke University and Duke Energy. Its guest rooms are perfect for a romantic night away from home, and guests can tour the 4.5 acres of gardens. It also has a guest library and is the perfect spot to host events like weddings.
