2022 Color(s) of The Year

2022 Color(s) of The Year

Each year, several leading companies set the trend for colors to be incorporated into your home design with the “Color of the Year.” Benjamin Moore chose October Mist 1495, which is a gentle sage that “behaves like a neutral.” Similarly, Sherwin-Williams chose Evergreen Fog. Lastly, Pantone announced that Very Peri is the color of the year described as its “courageous presence encourages personal inventiveness and creativity.”

Should You Follow The Color Trends In Your Home?

If your home is hitting the market, try the 2022 color of the year palette to freshen up any space. Following color trends can help set your home apart from others. Agents recommend sellers use neutral colors throughout their home and add in accent colors. Using the color October Mist in either entryways or bedrooms helps create an inviting and tranquil space. Use it in the design of a guest bedroom for “that home-away-from-home feeling.” The color also pairs well with whites and other neutral colors.

Sherwin-Williams Evergreen Fog looks great in any modern and sophisticated space. If your home has a minimalist style and aesthetic, this color works great in spaces with a subtle pop of color. It pairs well with nature-inspired colors, making it very versatile in your home.

Pantone’s Very Peri is a nice accent color for a playful space, whether introduced through a painted wall, statement furniture, or home décor. Do you want to add a fun pattern? The color pairs well in a room with blue hues and is compatible with neutrals.

How Do The Companies Choose Their Color Of The Year?

When determining the color of the year, each paint company recognizes design, art, fashion, cultural and environmental influences, and trends around the globe. Each element is driven by color, giving a snapshot of the moment in time. Design influences in furniture, lighting, fabrics, and home accessories help curate a standout color.

“Each year, we invite homeowners to use the Color Trends palette as a point of inspiration to bring color into the home in new ways.” – Andrea Magno, Director of Color Marketing & Development at Benjamin Moore.
