5 Decorating Tips to Bring Fall Curb Appeal to Your Porch

5 Decorating Tips to Bring Fall Curb Appeal to Your Porch

Fall is here! We have 5 decorating tips to bring fall curb appeal to your yard below. Happy Fall Ya’ll!

#1 – Yard Maintenance

Mid to late October is peak leaf season in North Carolina, one of the most beautiful times of the year to spend outside. The colorful fall foliage is already starting to show off! Gorgeous fall colors can make a big impact in your yard, but with that beauty also comes a big mess. Keeping a clean and tidy yard goes a long way with curb appeal. With the falling leaves in full force, keep a rake and leaf blower on hand.

#2 – Instant Fall Curb Appeal : Just Add Pumpkins

Get creative! Incorporating different colored pumpkins, stacking pumpkins on either side of your front door, cascading pumpkins down your front stoop… the possibilities are endless! Think about the size and proportion of your front steps and porch to decide what is going to work best. For example, make sure not to crowd your stoop or place a pumpkin close to the doorway where it could cause anyone to trip or have trouble opening the door.

#3 – Autumn Decor

If you haven’t started already, now is a great time to decorate your front porch for fall. Hang a festive fall wreath on your front door to welcome guests and trick-or-treaters. If you have chairs or a bench on your front porch, add a fall-themed pillow for a pop of color. However, going overboard can take away from your home’s appeal and actually distract visitors. Sometimes less is more!

#4 – Plant Fall Flowers

Once your lawn has been cleaned up and is looking its best, add a splash of color with fall flowers. Replace your summer annuals with vibrant mums, pansies or even flowering kale and cabbages.

#5 – Clear Out All Gutters

Unlike the others on this list, this tip is not one that provides instant gratification and a high-impact result you can see and enjoy. However, it is a very important one. Keeping gutters and downspouts clean from leaves and debris helps protect your home from water damage. Be careful if you’re going to get on a ladder, or leave it to the professionals.
