Beyond Curb Appeal: What’s Wowing Charlotte Buyers

Beyond Curb Appeal: What’s Wowing Charlotte Buyers

Charlotte buyers want turnkey properties with elevated entertaining and functional flex spaces – inside and out, experts say.

Across the U.S., custom storage solutions, flexible layouts, outdoor kitchens and living spaces, wellness and energy-efficient features and smart home upgrades are at the top of buyers’ wishlists these days, per the latest from the National Kitchen and Bath Association. This rings true in Charlotte, too.

In today’s market, buyers prefer turnkey properties instead of a project – think: white or neutral kitchens, fresh paint, and new roofs – Catharine Pappas, Dickens Mitchener VP of Relocation, explains. Updated homes are selling faster than homes that need work.

Charlotte buyers want to be wowed, agent Jeff Murdock says. They want flexible spaces that can change with their lifestyle, and stylish finishes and wall coverings or paint. “They very much appreciate great outdoor living spaces. This has become more important over time,” he adds.

A city known for its Southern hospitality, Charlotte is filled with people who love to host. Buyers love sculleries or “back of house” kitchens, agent Shelly Rydell says. These spaces serve as useful work zones that also hide things like small appliances. “The bigger the better on the pantry space – sometimes they feel like a full second kitchen! But even the small but well-designed support spaces are big perks for homebuyers,” Rydell shares.
