Charlotte has made a name for itself when it comes to beer, and now beer lovers nationwide will be in the know.
2022 Great American Beer Festival
The 2022 Great American Beer Festival was held September 21-23rd in Denver, CO. There were just shy of 10,000 entries for 177 different styles of beer. The Queen City can now add 4 gold medals, 2 silver, and 1 bronze to the trophy case. Six breweries came home with a medal and one brewery came home with two!
NoDa Brewing won a Bronze medal for Slurp in the Experimental IPA Category
Devil’s Logic won a Silver medal for their Control Alt in the Alt Beer Category
Pilot Brewing won a Gold for their Blackberry Gose in the Contemporary Gose Category
Legion Brewing won a Gold for their Cold IPA in their India Pale Ale Category
Lenny Boy Brewing Co won a Gold for Plumonary Groove in the Fruitwood and barrel-aged Sour Beer Category
Southend Brewery came home with two medals, Silver for their Franz Protagonist Beer in the Dortmunder Category, and Gold for their Bizarro Beer in their America-Belgo Style Ale.
Six other medals were awarded to North Carolina breweries outside of Charlotte, including breweries in Hickory, Fairview, Mills River, and Lexington. Charlotte has over 50 breweries in Mecklenburg County and the surrounding area. Founded in 2009, Olde Mecklenburg Brewery was the first brewery in the area. Additionally, our very own agent, Leslie Mueller, knows all about beer. Her good friend, Mike Bernstein, owner of Buckwild Brewery in Oakland, California, also won a Gold Medal for his gluten-free beer.
