Over the next few months we’re going to be sharing a new series that dives into the morning routines of Dickens Mitchener team members. It’s our way of introducing you to some of the wonderful people behind our brokerage. Plus, scientists and business leaders alike swear by a solid morning routine for a successful life!
Recently we caught up with Jane Lemmond. She’s been with the brokerage since 1998, just a few years after finding her Charlotte home in 1993 (thanks to Dottie Dickens).
Let’s get into it.
What time do you typically wake up? 6:30-7am – I have never been an early riser!
What’s the very first thing you do each morning? Have a cup of coffee, preferably delivered by my husband to me in bed. That is a good day!
Are there any non-negotiables for your morning? Every morning I try to get in a minimum of 30-40 minutes of exercise, either lifting weights, walking, elliptical or some yoga.
What do you eat/drink for breakfast? Muesli with berries and kefir is my go-to breakfast! My favorite guilty pleasure is an occasional bacon, egg and cheese biscuit from BoJangles — talk about comfort food!!
What’s the first app you use on your phone most days? I am a bit addicted to checking my WeatherBug app first thing in the morning.
When does your workday start and how do you typically kick off the work day? Generally, I like to be on my computer by 8am, checking my emails and reviewing client searches for new listings.
What’s one app, gadget, purchase, item, etc. that makes your mornings easier/more joyful? I have several coffee cups that are very special to me. One that my mom bought for me when I headed to Arizona State in 1980; another that a dear friend gave me a couple years ago called the Muse by Jonathan Adler; and another that says, “sometimes I stay inside because it’s just too peopley out there.” We have quite the collection of mugs at our house and all of us have our favorites.
Anything else you want to share about how you start each day? Stepping outside and seeing my garden and trees makes me smile every morning. Right now, I have Camellias blooming — White by the Garden Gate, as well as a crimson colored variety. They are gorgeous!
