Dickens Mitchener is a proud sponsor of the Strides For Shelter 5K Run / Walk, presented by the Canopy Housing Foundation. We hope you’ll join our team at the event, which will take place on October 22, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. at McAlpine Creek Park. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Charlotte Rescue Mission, which serves those at the intersection of homelessness and addiction through housing, counseling, fitness and educational programs.
Joan Goode, a top producing agent at Dickens Mitchener, has been the chair since the race’s inception in 2016. “It is one of the only races funding Charlotte area homelessness and unmet housing needs,” she explains. “Since its inception, Canopy Housing Foundation has returned $91,760 from the race proceeds to several worthy local beneficiaries who are all working to address the needs of homelessness.”
While Dickens Mitchener has been a sponsor of this race since its inception six years ago, our company’s commitment to this cause in particular has been bolstered by the Homeowners Impact Fund 501(c)3 nonprofit to support those experiencing homelessness in an ongoing and sustainable way. Our goal is for everyone in our community to have a place to call home. We believe this can be achieved through the power of collective giving, as well as supporting events such as the Strides for Shelter 5K.
“I personally feel called to work alongside my fellow Charlotte friends, family and neighbors to ensure that our entire community has a safe place to call home,” says Goode. “Vicky and our entire firm have run, donated, sponsored and advocated for Strides for Shelter for six years running.”
