This farmers' market located off Yorkmount Road is one of four markets owned by the state of NC and operated by the NC Department of Agriculture. Hours of operation vary on the time of year, so check their website before you head out. In addition to produce, expect to find local NC farmers with meat, eggs, dairy, seafood, prepared foods, flowers, honey, baked goods, crafts, plants, and more.
Matthews Community Farmers Market
This market is a favorite among Saturday guests! Open year-round on Saturday mornings from 8 am-noon(main season) and 8 am-10 am(winter). Be sure to get there early as most vendors tend to sell out early. Expect to find local produce (all crops are grown within 50 miles of Matthews), seafood, meats & cheeses, prepared foods, and more. Atherton Market
Check out the Atherton Market in its new location along the new Rail Trail in the South End. This Saturday market is open year-round and features small local farms and artisans. Expect to find local produce, meat, seafood, eggs, and a variety of dairy products. Bonus: the market also has supplies to create a garden or pick out home and bath care products.
Simpson’s Produce at Kings Drive Farmers Market
This market was opened in 1941 in the heart of Myers Park. Visit from April to December and pick up fresh, local fruits and veggies. Davidson Farmers Market
This market is worth the drive on a Saturday morning! Open from 9 am to noon, it is located in the Davidson College area and exudes charm. This “producer-only” market allows items sourced from 100 miles around Davidson. Expect to find produce, flowers, meat, baked goods, local artisans, and more.
